Not only do we accompany your loved one to medical appointments, but we do this for lifestyle reasons as well. If your loved one is hoping to attend their 50th high school anniversary and needs the support, we would be happy to help. Continuing to enrich one’s life through interactions with the world is an effective method to manage one’s ongoing engagement in their care and health plan.
We have a 3 hour minimum which we protect with great care. This is done in service of our clients to ensure they receive comprehensive and attentive care that engages them in a social interaction while receiving the care they need. It’s our experience that those who maintain active mental, emotional and social connections are more likely to have a better quality of life, despite their health challenges.
We understand this situation can be quite devastating to many people. Many individuals who are faced with these challenges will avoid these activities out of modesty, fierce independence or simply feeling humiliated or depressed. Our PSWs are trained in providing support with these activities of daily living with dignity and grace.
RHL believes that caring for a loved one requires a village. Despite the best of intentions a family member they may not be equipped with the knowledge and skills to deliver care and may put their loved one or themselves at risk of injury. Families have an important part in the care process and this can include many things like looking after financial and legal matters and simply visiting and engaging with their loved one. RHL fills the gap between the family and the medical systems. Our purpose is to create an environment for your loved one to life the life they choose in the environment they choose. This can be in a residence, a retirement home, on a vacation or even in a medical facility.
No, we are not a nursing facility. We can provide care in any environment where our client chooses to be, whether that is at home or in a nursing home.
Yes we do! In fact, many of our clients require 24 hour care, 7 days a week. We are accustomed to providing care at all times of the day, 365 days a year. When a client is sleeping we will do what makes sense in alignment to the client’s individualized care plan. This can include light housekeeping and preparatory activity for the next day. In other cases, it can include sitting quietly nearby to ensure immediate response if the client needs assistance. In some instances PSWs may take a few moments of rest to be ready for all levels of care.
There is a growing desire for individuals to exercise their choice in the method of their passing. We respect these choices with great care. Our core offering is based on providing clients with the ability to live the life they choose …..even up to the moment of their passing. We are serious about our scope of care and work closely with the family and medical teams to ensure the client’s comfort through every stage of their passing.
Absolutely! Dementia is one of many aging related diseases that can greatly impact an individual’s quality of life. Other commonly known diseases like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and ALS can complicate the physical and mental needs of your loved one. Our key philosophy of care is to support your loved one to live the best life possible despite the limitations of disease, degenerative disorders or aging. Watching a loved one deteriorate can take its toll on a family and quite often what they need from you is fun times filled with love. We can be there for all the rest and help you and your loved one with the heavy lifting.
We have a structured and comprehensive process that involves meeting with your loved one, you and any other members of the family and support partners (medical, pharmacists, etc) to ensure we understand the expectations and objectives of daily living. It’s called the Care Plan and details all the needs of your loved one.
Each client we work with has an individualized record that is kept in their home in which we record all relevant aspects of care provided. This log is built in conjunction with the Care Plan and will make note of meals, activity, obstacles, progress and any changes in care that may be required as a result of the client’s changing conditions or needs.
Special diets and limitations to diets are a common concern. There are lots of things we can do and each client is different. We’ll work closely with your loved one to spark interest through involvement in meal planning, choosing and preparing recipes, sharing ideas on how to modify recipes and listening to stories about their interests. Getting a person engaged in these very important daily activities is crucial to their care objectives and precisely what we do best!
Most definitely. Post-surgical recovery is hard on anyone, but can be even more difficult as one is aging. Age related conditions or degenerative diseases can complicate recovery. Add to that the emotional impacts of decreasing independence or mobility which is often further exacerbated by surgery. RHL PSWs are trained and experienced in supporting post-surgical clients to return to their residence of choice and integrate back into their activities of daily living as is appropriate for their condition. Our care protocols include ongoing assessment of their condition, progress on their recovery, their mental state and overall well-being.
Like others in our industry, we charge an hourly rate. We hold fast to a 3 hour minimum to ensure comprehensive care is provided. We work with clients with large and small budgets. Our first step involves understanding what the client needs and we will tailor a plan to deliver with excellence.
